Cascade board adopts the 2025–26 budget and approves associated appropriations and tax resolutions

The Cascade School District board adopted the 2025–26 budget and approved associated budget resolutions after a brief presentation and a public hearing with no speakers. Finance Director Scott Phillips reviewed the district’s target for an ending fund balance and explained that the budget in front of the board reflects the committee’s prior deliberations.
“We're shooting for 4.0 as a ending fund balance,” Phillips told the board while reviewing the resolutions that implement appropriations, set tax levies and categorize taxes. The board opened the budget hearing, received no public comment and closed the hearing before moving the resolutions.
The board moved and passed several resolutions by voice vote, recorded in the meeting as Resolutions 10a through 10f. Those covered: hiring new administrative and certified staff (10a); approving amended appropriations (10b); adopting the 2025–26 budget (10c); appropriating the 2025–26 budget (10d); imposing the property tax levy for tax year 2025–26 (10e); and categorizing imposed taxes (10f). Each resolution was moved, seconded and carried with an aye vote.
The board’s formal adoption formalizes the budget document that will be on file in the district fiscal office for public inspection; the finance director said this was his final presentation to the board and that staff will bring follow-up financial reporting in July or August.
