The Alexandria Township Board of Education announced that, beginning March 1, 2026, legally required board notices will not be published in the local newspaper and will be posted only on the district website.
According to the School Business Administrator/Board Secretary, "Starting on March 1, 2026 legal notices will no longer be published in the newspaper and will instead only be posted on the district website under Board of Ed > Legal Notices." The change covers board meeting date changes, the annual budget and other required legal notices.
The board read the Open Public Meetings Act (P.L. 1975:31) at the start of the meeting and reiterated that notices must still be provided to comply with the Sunshine Law; the change affects the medium used for publication rather than the legal requirement to give public notice. The minutes do not record additional discussion or a vote specifically on the change; the School Business Administrator presented the announcement as part of the Board Secretary's report.
Board members present for the meeting were Darren Dalley, Eric Joseph, Marybeth Madlinger, Michael Small, Catherine Sutter and Doug Walker; three members were absent. The board opened public input but no members of the public were present to comment on the change.
