HR reports improved hiring, fewer bus resignations and driver training progress

Human Resources reported notable hiring progress compared with the previous year and described training and retention efforts in transportation and classified staff. "We have 16 classrooms vacant compared to 25 last year at this same time," the HR presenter said, adding that classified vacancies have been reduced in part because some positions were newly created for the school year.
HR highlighted a recent bus operator class with 50 participants and 32 who passed, and noted only 12 bus drivers have resigned since July 1 compared with 25 during the same period last year. The department described recruitment events and supports for 72 international teachers on staff, plus planned professional development, bus-driver incentives and other retention initiatives.
