Board approves redistricting option to send subdivision to Boone Trail Elementary

Board staff presented three options to address a subdivision split between Ben Haven and Boone Trail elementary attendance zones and recommended Option 1 — assign the subdivision to Boone Trail. "My recommendation is option 1. It's Boone Trail," the presenting staff member said when summarizing the recommendation.
Board members discussed capacity, bus-route travel times and projected new housing; one board member estimated future growth from open lots could add dozens of students. The board moved the discussion into an action item, approved the motion to adopt option 1, and recorded a majority voice vote. The board included a provision allowing students who currently attend Ben Haven to remain there if they choose.
