The Harnett County Board of Education began its Sept. 16 meeting by honoring outgoing Superintendent Dr. Aaron Fleming with a proclamation recognizing his 7.5 years leading Harnett County Schools.
Board members highlighted Fleming’s role in guiding the district through emergencies and long-term improvements. A longtime board member said, “Aaron, you stepped in at a critical time when we faced many uncertainties,” and praised Fleming’s work on school construction, pandemic response and safety measures. Dr. Fleming told the board this would be his final meeting and thanked members and staff for their support as he transitions to a new role.
The proclamation and public remarks did not create any new administrative actions; they served as formal recognition and a farewell to the superintendent. The board did not take additional votes tied to the proclamation during the public portion of the meeting.
