Albany County officials approved the annual review and modification of the county’s agricultural districts after staff outlined 11 recommended changes.
“All right good evening I’m Ann Marie Zeman the director of Albany County Department of Economic Development Planning and Conservation and I’m joined…” said Ann Marie Zeman, the department director, introducing the request and the process the Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board used to review applications. Ian Evans, the department’s senior natural resource planner, said board members and local partners inspected properties and determined some applications lacked active agriculture.
Zeman told the committee the package before members included 11 proposed changes and that a public hearing had been held. A committee member noted the record showed 14 applications overall and asked why three were not accepted; Evans replied the review committee, which included Cornell Cooperative Extension and local conservation district staff, inspected the properties and found no agricultural activity on the rejected parcels.
A motion to approve the annual review and modifications was made, seconded and carried. The committee did not record individual vote tallies in the transcript; the chair announced the motion carried.
