Board approves 2026 goals after amendment to include recognition of community collaborations

Bob Brown summarized the goals drafted at the Jan. 12 workshop. An initial motion to approve the goals as presented failed on a 1–4 vote. Brown then offered an amendment to Goal #3 to reserve time at board meetings to recognize community collaborations; Angel Ashdown seconded and the amended goals passed unanimously. The board also clarified that Goal 4 includes attendance at at least one OSBA, NSBA or other conference or watching webinars as acceptable options for fulfilling the training requirement.
Board members asked the superintendent to research whether Goal #3 wording about recognizing staff publicly raises any legal or policy issues before repeating similar recognitions.
