Board approves several policies in second reading, flags budget-committee quorum language

During the Oct. 20 meeting the board conducted second readings of several policies and voted to approve them as presented. Policies on the agenda included DBEA (Budget Committee), GCBD/GDBD (Sick Leave), IF (District Curriculum), IIA (Instructional Materials), JFCEB and JFCEB-AR (Personal Electronic Devices), JHCA (Immunization), JOA (Directory Information) and JO/IGBAB-AR (Education Records).
Board member Carol Hacherl specifically called attention to DBEA language describing quorum in a budget meeting. After discussion, Carol Hacherl moved and Bob Brown seconded to approve the policies as presented; the motion passed unanimously. Trustees also directed Superintendent Miller and staff to continue prioritizing policy updates and to check available funds for a comprehensive OSBA-assisted review.
The board directed administration to report back in November on budget availability and prioritization for any comprehensive policy-update service.
