The Port Orford‑Langlois School District 2CJ board unanimously approved an out‑of‑state senior trip to Catalina Island for six students with two chaperones.
Students Shayla Carpenter and Merrilyn Hensley told the board that fund‑raising has reached $5,000 toward an expected total cost of $9,000, with additional events planned including a trivia night, can drive and cornhole tournament. Judy Miles moved to approve the trip and Bob Brown seconded; all five board members voted in favor.
The students and staff described contingency plans in case the full amount is not raised. The board did not require additional legal language for the motion. The approval was recorded under agenda item 5.3.1.
