Katherine Hawthorne updated the board on the 2CJ Family Academy during the Oct. 20 meeting, saying the program currently serves 23 enrolled students and provides tutoring, scheduled field trips and an on-site office at Pacific High School.
Hawthorne described the Family Academy as the district’s supported home-school option and said families can enroll at any time. She has created a newsletter and an email list to communicate with families and recruit new participants. Superintendent Aaron Miller will present curriculum materials to trustees in November so the board can consider formal approval needed for Division 22 compliance.
Trustees asked for curriculum materials in advance so they have time to review the instructional materials before the November meeting.
