Port Orford-Langlois board approves Division 22 report but says Family Academy curriculum must be reviewed

The Port Orford-Langlois School Board on Oct. 20 approved its annual Division 22 standards report while flagging one scheduled correction: the Family Academy’s instructional materials have not yet been reviewed and approved by the board.
Superintendent Aaron Miller told trustees the district “has met all required standards” in most areas but that, “per ORS 581-022-2355 the district is not in compliance” with the instructional materials requirement because the Family Academy curriculum has not been presented for board approval. Miller said he will provide curriculum materials and website links ahead of the November meeting and asked trustees to formally review and approve them then. Judy Miles moved and Carol Hacherl seconded the motion to approve Division 22 with the scheduled correction; the motion passed unanimously.
Board members said they want materials in advance to allow adequate review time. The decision keeps the district on schedule for its final report to the Oregon Department of Education in November while setting a clear deadline for the Family Academy curriculum review.
