Superintendent Bernal highlights Youth Wellness Collaborative with 25+ partners for mental-health supports

Superintendent Carolyn Bernal summarized the Youth Wellness Community Collaborative, noting more than 25 community partners engaged to support student mental health, attendance, substance-abuse prevention and LGBTQ+ supports. Bernal said the high school uses Sources of Strength to develop youth leaders and the middle school uses Character Strong for suicide prevention and leadership development; Haven will partner for dating- and domestic-violence education at the high school.
Director Polehn asked about age-appropriate, student-facing resources and whether programs include sexual-harassment and assault prevention; Bernal said staff will follow up with Sources of Strength and confirmed Haven's role in high-school education on safe dating and domestic violence. The board discussed gathering feedback and planning workshops to extend resources to families and staff.
