Board approves $10,000 credit limit for Ontario High School to ease team travel payments

The Ontario School District 8C Board voted to raise the Ontario High School credit-card limit to $10,000 to help staff reserve hotels and cover other travel-related expenses.
Director of Finance Devin Collins told the board that when teams travel for sporting and academic events, OHS must reserve hotel rooms and the longer billing timeline makes a larger credit line necessary. Chair Bret Uptmor said $8,000 "is a lot of money, but maybe we should go for $10,000 since there are so many expenses and receipts going through the busy season." Vice-Chair Abby Apodaca moved to amend Resolution 25-15 to set the limit at $10,000; Director Jenna Mejia seconded the motion.
The amended resolution passed in a roll-call vote: Uptmor, Apodaca, Blackaby, Mejia and Reeser voting yes. The board formalized the change by adopting Resolution 25-15 with the amended $10,000 limit.
The vote followed a Finance report from Collins who said cash flow has been consistent and that the district expects a spike in November when property taxes arrive. Collins also noted an enrollment decline prompting contact with the Oregon Department of Education to revisit collection estimates. The board did not attach further conditions to the credit limit change; administrative staff will implement the new limit for OHS payment lines.
