District outlines use of state carryover grants and ESSER changes

District presenter Denise summarized changes to the district's special revenue funds, explaining that state carryover amounts for Measure 98, the School Improvement Fund (SIA) and early literacy grants required the district to spend those balances by the end of the biennium. "The increase to the state revenue is because of the increase in the carryover dollars for Measure 98, SIA, the school improvement fund, and the early literacy grant," Denise said.
Denise also told the board that a federal ESSER carryover budgeted last year did not occur, which was reflected as a decrease in federal revenue in the supplemental package. She said the district is shifting some appropriation between support and instruction to pay special-education stipends the state issued on the 11th. The board approved the resolution affecting special revenue funds as part of the supplemental budget vote.
