Board commits to retrofitting buses to meet Senate Bill 546 by 2029

She stated, "Senate bill, 5 46 requires that seat belts require seat belts on school buses with full compliance by 09/01/2029," and reported the district's fleet of 103 buses has 32 without seat belts. Trustees moved to adopt the retrofit approach and the motion passed 7-0.
District staff said they do not anticipate owning buses without seat belts by the compliance date if the current replacement plan continues and that retrofitting the remaining buses will help ensure compliance.
