Presenter introduces draft 2025–26 instruction calendar, proposes expanded in‑service week

"This is a draft," the presenter said, adding the district always circulates the draft to licensed and classified unions for feedback and works to ensure contractual requirements are met. The presenter said the draft meets state kindergarten through 12th‑grade requirements.
The presenter highlighted one substantive change: extending August professional development. "The 3 in service days in August are not enough for our staff to get their feet under them before the year starts," S4 said, noting that most districts opt for a five‑day in‑service week and the draft adds that time. The presenter said the added days should give new and returning staff more time to prepare.
Board members were invited to send questions prior to the March meeting, when the calendar will be scheduled for final approval.
