Superintendent Dr. Carolyn Bernal described the planned process to fill the vacancy: advertise and accept applications beginning Feb. 23, close applications March 27 at 4:00 p.m., verify applicants, conduct interviews and deliberate in open session at the April board meeting, and then make a motion to appoint and swear in a new member at that meeting.
Board members discussed timing and verification; Director Kelley urged an expeditious process while other members noted the policy's 20-day advertising minimum and the need for careful verification.
