The presentation said the district currently has 24 uncertified teachers and outlined supports: mandatory enrollment in an approved educator preparation program within 30 days of hire, mentorship and a new-teacher academy, individualized certification plans, potential local certifications for high-need positions, and consideration of residency and district teaching permits. The draft plan was posted on the district website and administration said it will return with a final proposal at the April board meeting.
Board members were invited to comment and the district indicated the DOI updates are intended to balance compliance with staffing flexibility while focusing supports on uncertified teachers until they achieve certification.
