Royse City ISD staff outline $1.1M savings from 10% departmental reductions; campus allocations protected

"All last week, I was able to I think I sat in on 8 different budget meetings, with departments. But they have been asked to do a 10% reduction overall, all departments," Dr. Faith Ann Cheek said. She emphasized that no reductions were imposed on campus allocations, so fine arts and athletics programs were to be protected. The cabinet will monitor staff resignations and consider attrition and position-by-position reviews before eliminating roles.
Administration said aligning teacher FTEs with actual enrollment and schedules is an active cost-control measure; the board will review refined estimates at the next workshop when county appraisal values are available.
