Stanfield FFA students report sharp increases in participation, SAE assets

Students from the Stanfield FFA told the Stanfield SD 61 board that the program has seen a marked increase in participation and activity over the past three years. "As of 2021, we had 13; and now for 2024, we had 76," said Hannah Land, the FFA chapter president, describing entries in career development and leadership events. Presenters said journal hours rose from 3,146 in 2021 to 13,735 in 2024 and that chapter involvement in community service and other activities also increased.
The students outlined competitive placements and future plans: district firsts in soils and small-animal judging and a slate of district banner finishes. They said about 20 students will attend conventions, leadership workshops and CDE/LDE days, and emphasized growth among middle-school members. A presenter clarified financial figures: "That is student SAE assets — that's not chapter assets that the chapter owns," a participant said, explaining that the roughly $166,000 figure reported for 2024 reflects student project asset value, up from about $55,000 in 2021.
Board members and attendees asked logistical questions about state convention timing and chaperones; the presentation closed after students answered queries about event locations and background checks. The board later approved an overnight FFA state convention trip after a separate motion and vote.
