Spearman ISD board adopts TASB Local Policy Update 126 covering AI, cybersecurity and student-welfare rules

The update covers a lengthy list of LOCAL policies, including BE(LOCAL) and BED(LOCAL) on board meetings and public participation; CJ(LOCAL) and CJA(LOCAL) on contracted services and background checks; CLE(LOCAL) on buildings and required displays; CQB(LOCAL) and CQD(LOCAL) addressing technology resources and artificial intelligence; multiple personnel policies (DBD, DGBA, DH) and student-welfare policies (FFB, FFF, FFG) among others. Board members said the changes were offered by TASB Policy Service for local consideration; no alternate language or roll-call amendments were recorded during discussion.
Board President Dustin Mackie presided over the vote. Adoption of Update 126 means the district will incorporate the revised local policy language into the Spearman ISD policy manual and apply the changes according to TASB guidance and local implementation steps.
