Board adopts JFCEB personal electronic devices policy on second reading

On Oct. 8 the Santiam Canyon SD 129J board approved the second reading of policy JFCEB (Personal Electronic Devices) with previously requested changes; the policy passed 4-0. An administrative regulation (JFCEB-AR) covering exceptions will be posted by the superintendent.
The Santiam Canyon SD 129J board completed a second reading and adopted policy JFCEB (Personal Electronic Devices) at its Oct. 8 meeting. Melissa Allison moved to accept the policy as presented with the changes the board requested at the prior meeting; Josh Childress seconded. The motion passed 4-0.
Superintendent Krista Nieraeth also reviewed JFCEB-AR, the administrative regulation that sets exception procedures; she explained that administrative regulations are created by the superintendent and posted on the district policy page rather than being approved as board policy. The regulation regarding exceptions will be available on the district website.
