Principals report declines in staffing and steady attendance as meal participation climbs

At Evergreen she said enrollment dropped by 10 students year‑over‑year, one teacher retired and instructional-assistant hours were cut from the equivalent of four positions to two; despite staff reductions she reported strong community volunteer support and 96% student attendance. “As of the 9th, we have served over 2,670 meals to students at Evergreen,” Hansen said, noting volunteers and district staff have helped deliver meals where buildings lack full kitchens.
For Victor Point Hansen reported similar pressures: enrollment moved from 212 to 207, a classroom teacher was not replaced and grade blends have grown (one 2nd–3rd grade blend has 29 students). She described district interventions — PLCs, 20% meetings, and care teams — to target students below grade level and listed school fundraising and enrichment activities that supplement programming.
