The Spearman I.S.D. Board of Trustees on May 5 formally canvassed the May 2 school board election and declared Dustin Mackie and Scott Sonnenberg winners of the two full three-year seats. The board accepted the election return sheets as submitted by election judges; vote totals reported were Stephen Batton 162, Scott Sonnenberg 204 and Dustin Mackie 271.
Nora Saenz, the district's executive secretary, administered oaths to Dustin Mackie, Scott Sonnenberg and to Rhett Renner, who filled an unexpired term. Following the swearing-in, the board reorganized its leadership: the board unanimously (7-0) appointed Dustin Mackie as president, Jay Tracy as vice president and Scott Sonnenberg as secretary. Motions to appoint each officer passed with unanimous recorded votes.
