Spearman ISD board certifies Rhett Renner as elected, cancels May 2 special election

At its March 23 meeting the Spearman ISD Board of Trustees approved the Certification of Unopposed Candidates and declared Rhett Renner elected to the board, removing the need for the special election scheduled for May 2, 2026. Trustee Anne Marie Pearson moved to approve the certification; Trustee Scott Sonnenberg seconded. The vote to certify the unopposed candidate and the subsequent motion to cancel the special election both carried 7-0.
The board recorded the certification in Exhibit B and entered an Order of Cancellation under Texas Election Code Section 2.053 (Exhibit C), noting a copy of the order will be posted at polling places that would have been used on Election Day.
