Spearman ISD board accepts teacher resignation and approves probationary hire

The Spearman Independent School District Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of professional employee Elizabeth Bass, effective October 20, 2025. The motion to accept the resignation was made by Trustee Scott Sonnenberg and seconded by Trustee Jay Tracy; the board recorded a unanimous 7-0 vote in favor.
The board also approved Superintendent James Layman’s recommendation to employ Kate Davis on a 10-month Probationary Educator Contract for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year, beginning in November 2025. Trustee Karla Flowers moved to approve the contract and Trustee Anne Marie Pearson seconded; the motion carried 7-0. Both personnel actions were handled in the special session convened Oct. 29, 2025.
