A district presenter recommended increasing substitute pay and outlined savings from recruiting substitutes directly. "Bringing substitutes in from our 3rd party vendor has actually saved the district this year alone. And it's just April, $1,200,000," the presenter said, using the saving as partial justification for raising certified substitute pay by $10 and paraprofessional substitute pay by $5.
The presenter also proposed a district-funded telehealth option that would be available to employees and their dependents free of charge whether they enroll in district medical insurance or not. Trustees asked clarifying questions about timing for health-insurance rate notices and vendor estimates; staff said rate notices were expected in May and that the carrier did not anticipate increases above 10%.
