The Yellow Medicine East School Board approved a tiered threshold schedule for change‑order approvals on the district’s building construction project. Under the policy the board approved, the superintendent may approve change orders up to $25,000; the Buildings & Grounds Committee may approve orders between $25,000 and $100,000; and any change order over $100,000 must be approved by the full board.
The motion, made by Matt Zempel and seconded by Sonja Pederson, also directs that after a cumulative $1,000,000 in change orders processed by the superintendent and the Buildings & Grounds Committee, the thresholds will be re‑examined and/or reapproved. The minutes do not list an anticipated timeline or dollar amount for the initial project contract in which these thresholds will apply.
