Milton-Freewater board accepts two resignations, approves CTE science hire

The Milton-Freewater Unified SD 7 board accepted certified resignations from Ashley May, a science teacher at Central, and Rebecca Hare, a teacher at Gibb Olenger Elementary School, and approved a recommended hire to fill the secondary science position.
Superintendent Mr. Duff told the board the district had opened the vacancy to candidates who could fill a science or CTE agricultural science role to broaden the applicant pool. He said that math and science secondary positions are among the hardest to fill in the state and that the screening committee recommended Piana Hare for the CTE science position. "We had a very strong applicant pool," Mr. Duff said.
The board moved and seconded the personnel actions and voted to accept the resignations and approve the hire. Mr. Duff said the recommended candidate is finishing a bachelor's in agricultural science systems and will be licensed when she begins. The district noted opportunities for coaching and classroom-management support during her transition.
