Board considers Gal Beach (Gal Pond) stabilization plan and partnership opportunities

Administration reported consultant Gabriel Hamilton recommended a cost-efficient first phase focused on erosion mitigation and stabilization around the Gal Pond/old beach area, including boulder-wire boxes, removal of an unused concrete driveway and unused court surfaces, and grading to improve flood-plain credits. The village has committed to remove some structures, and the countys stormwater management office and other partners were identified as possible grant or technical resources.
"This is probably what we would do immediately," administration said of the stabilization work, recommending multiyear partner engagement afterward for beautification or additional mitigation. Trustees noted that funding sources exist at county and federal levels for similar projects and asked administration to return with a prioritized list of capital needs and potential partner commitments. No formal funding or contract vote occurred; the board directed administration to add the project to capital-prioritization discussions and to pursue immediate stabilization as appropriate.
