Council approved ordinance 76 2026 as an emergency measure to authorize the mayor and finance director to enter into agreements with a head teacher, teachers, aides and related staff for the Sabania Safety City program run by the Sabania Division of Police.
Chief Miller, presenting the program, said staffing comes largely from the school district and volunteers who teach and aid in both morning and afternoon sessions: "Morning session is filled. We still have a few spots in the afternoon," he said. Councilmember Westfall moved passage and the ordinance passed by voice vote; the chief and staff will proceed with staff assignments for the upcoming sessions.
