Council approves $76,000 design amendment for rec center lease space

The Greenville City Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing an additional $76,000 in design services with Barker Rinker (CCAT architect firm) to produce design documents for lease space at the front of the recreation center.
A staff presenter said the design will let the city own the plans for the lease space and will be used in negotiations with Hunt Regional Healthcare. "So this would be a design, for the design of the lease space at the front of the rec center, that we'll be negotiating with Hunt Regional, health care," the presenter said. Staff added the city will attempt to recoup the cost through negotiations with the prospective tenant.
A council member moved to approve the resolution, a second was given, and the item passed unanimously. The resolution authorizes the design amendment; staff said they will include the new design in negotiations but did not provide a timeline for those talks.
