Park board recommends approval of Jay Bettis’ July bull-ride fundraiser

The City of Kearney Park and Tree Board on Tuesday recommended that the Board of Aldermen approve Jay Bettis’ annual bull-ride fundraiser at Just James Park for July 25–26. Bettis told the board the event benefits a nonprofit therapeutic riding program called Veteran and Saddle and that the production company carries event insurance.
Bettis said the production and insurance arrangements are similar to previous years, including ‘‘two $2,000,000 policies for a $4,000,000 total coverage,’’ and noted the Optimist Club will provide food service as a fundraiser partner. Chair called for a motion to recommend the event; the board moved, seconded, and voted in favor. Staff said a contract will be prepared and the item will be forwarded to the Board of Aldermen for final approval.
