Board delays Health and Elementary Social Science curriculum adoptions to protect teacher capacity

The North Wasco County School District 21 board unanimously approved a request to postpone two instructional-material adoptions to the 2026–27 cycle. TLA Director Allie Ivey told the board that while compliance with Oregon Division 22 adoption requirements is necessary, teacher workload and capacity concerns make a delay prudent to ensure high-quality implementation.
Ivey said the two adoptions recommended for postponement are "Secondary Health (grades 6–12)" and "Elementary Social Science (K–5)," with both to be adopted in 2026–27 and implemented in 2027–28. Director Polehn moved the postponement and Director Kramer seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
