Board approves new hires; district introduces special-education director and two elementary principals

The Royse City ISD Board approved new hires and accepted resignations presented in closed session by a 5–0 voice vote.
The board publicly introduced Michael Perotti as the district’s new director of special education. Perotti, who was invited to the podium, thanked trustees and said he is "very much looking forward to this opportunity of serving the Royse City ISD community." The presenter described Perotti’s background in special education, including work raising academic growth and compliance with IDEA and Section 504.
Two principals were also introduced. Lindy Buchanan was named principal of May Vernon Elementary; Buchanan thanked the board for the opportunity and referenced her work as an assistant principal, dyslexia therapist and process champion. Dr. Mariah Bailey was introduced as principal of Sarah Moss Elementary; Bailey cited her instructional leadership experience, two master’s degrees and work leading professional development and PBIS systems.
The approvals were recorded after a procedural motion: board members moved and seconded the administration’s recommendation; the chair called the vote and announced the motion passed 5–0.
