Board members said the purchase is intended to replace equipment after recent server failures that “pretty much crippled and disabled the courthouse.” QNS technician Adam told the board the company could begin installation after hours and estimated the first server could be online by Monday and the second by Tuesday: "he will start on Friday when everyone leaves, ideally, he would have us up and going on Monday but doesn’t want to promise that. However, by Tuesday you will be up and running." Aaron Wilhelm described the units as refurbished "scratch & dent" models that he said would save roughly $25,000 per server compared with new builds, and argued buying the available equipment was a fiscally prudent, faster option.
Vendor warranty and life-cycle details were discussed before the vote. Adam said the servers include a five-year warranty and that additional one-, two- or three-year extensions are available at roughly $300–$400 per year; he estimated the typical service life at seven to eight years. The board took a roll-call vote; the motion carried 9 yes, 0 no. Present members recorded as voting yes were Travis Phelps, Tyler Graven, Aaron Wilhelm, Josh Roe, Ralph Zancha, Lisa Florey, Joe Wallis, Kenny Graven, and Arlon Long.
The board did not specify a funding source during the meeting. Quality Network Solutions was named in the motion (quote 48670) and installation work was described as starting after hours to minimize disruption. The clerk recorded the meeting adjournment at 7:11 p.m.
