Superintendent Cheryl Weinsberg, the session presenter, told members that the board "sets the vision of where this district is gonna go, and you have oversight," while the superintendent is responsible for operational leadership.
Weinsberg framed this as a leadership-team model in which the board, superintendent and administrative professional each have distinct responsibilities: the board commissions a destination and policy, the superintendent translates vision into practice, and the administrative professional provides continuity and compliance between meetings. "There has to be things done logistically so you can govern," she said, explaining why the administrative role is essential. The trainer cautioned boards to avoid micromanagement and to spend most meeting time on student achievement rather than personal anecdotes or political fights.
