Maple Crest introduces new therapy dog, highlights community partnerships and student engagement

Maple Crest staff brought students and introduced Liberty, a new therapy dog who will join classroom visits and library time. The counselor described Liberty as a "birth counselor" and said she has been at Maple Crest for about a month and is already making an impact in lessons and student supports.

Staff also reviewed community partnerships and events—including London Fire Department rides for recognized students, sock and toy drives, parent events, and progress on building construction—and discussed supports for virtual and at-risk students such as a hub for seated virtual learners where they could meet counselors, instructors and school-based therapy. The presentation emphasized student goal setting and strategies to avoid pulling core classroom instruction to supervise virtual students.
