Gerken reported that CSO work is lining older sewer pipes and that a water leak was discovered during the lining; he said DEP flagged a contaminated dirt pile on Bergen Turnpike that needs removal. DPW Superintendent Rich Flynn said the department will cap the Veterans Park parking lot by the Little League field and confirmed sufficient salt supplies ahead of a predicted snowstorm.
Commissioner John H. Anlian said a new fire truck will be delivered within two weeks, with 2–3 weeks of training before the old truck is sold. Commissioner Wanda C. Portorreal reported the Pool Committee plans a 50th-anniversary celebration, early-bird registration runs April 1–30 with a $50 discount, and the summer recreation program is scheduled for June 29–Aug. 7 with counselors needed and an application deadline of Feb. 27. Mayor Adam MacNeill said NJ Transit prefers to lease rather than sell a property discussed with Rep. Josh Gottheimer.
