The Ridgefield Park Ambulance Corps. requested permission to hire a lawyer specializing in medical matters at a rate of $400 per hour. Commissioners discussed the request during the caucus and did not reach agreement to fund or approve retention of outside counsel at that rate.
Commissioner Wanda C. Portorreal reported the request to the Board and said the Ambulance Corps. has been responding on weekends only. Separately, Rescue Chief Ruiz asked about conducting background checks on members; the Board did not record a decision on background-check policy during the caucus and no motion to retain counsel was made.
