During the Aug. 11 meeting, Superintendent Dr. J.P. Richardson presented personnel items to the board. The board approved a request for local certification for Professional Educator Adjalon (AJ) Bowers (motion by Kip Amick; seconded by Stephen Skinner), and the motion carried unanimously. Dr. Richardson also reported accepted resignations from Christal Blizzard, Erin Miller, Judy Norred, and Kelli Whelan effective at the end of the 2024-25 school year.
The minutes list numerous new hires for the 2025-26 school year, including Hallie Bench, Karen Bounds, Adjalon Bowers, Sheri Finn, Sonya Hurta, Linda Robertson, Amy Saxton, Darris Turner (professional educators), Travis Bounds (probationary dual contract), Jana Burrows (part-time Educational Diagnostician), Sendy Rodriguez (LVN), John Kirk Permenter (Police Officer), and Dustin Nino (Professional Educator/Band Director). The board also nominated Clifford Harkless for the 2026-27 term on the Rusk County Appraisal District Board; Matt Crawford moved the nomination and Kip Amick seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
