The Sudan ISD Board approved several personnel recommendations for the 2026-27 school year during the April 13 meeting. Elementary Principal DeAnn Wilson recommended moving probationary elementary staff Mandy Couch, Maddie Dowell and Shane Gallagher to term contracts; Clay Carr moved to approve and Joe Ky Shultz seconded. The motion carried 6-0.
Wilson also recommended renewing the probationary contract of Caleb Swofford and converting his contract to a term contract once he completes TEA certification; Ryan Harper moved to approve and Clay Carr seconded. The meeting minutes record that the motion carried "5-0 with Joe Ky Shultz abstaining." At the high school level, Principal Gordon Martin recommended moving Victor Herrera from a probationary to a term contract and renewing probationary contracts for Gabriella Herrera and Austin Willis; those motions were approved 6-0.
