During the same meeting that set the election date, Superintendent Scott Harrell recommended and the board approved a slate of election officials and poll workers to administer the May 2, 2026 joint election with the City of Sudan. Appointments included Mechelle Edwards as Elections Administrator and Early Voting Clerk; Kristy Peck as Deputy Early Voting Clerk; Sheri Markham as Early Voting Ballot Board Judge and Central Count Judge; and Ruth Ortega as Early Voting Ballot Board Alternate Judge and Alternate Election Day Judge.
The board also approved Epimenio Salinis to serve as bilingual clerk for early voting and Ruth Ortega as bilingual clerk on Election Day. Each recommendation was approved by separate motions and recorded as carried 5-0. The appointments designate who will run early voting, central count, and Election Day processes for the district’s joint administration of the May election.
