The board presented a first read of updated mission, vision and core values that staff and trustees developed through workshops and a community survey.
Staff said the process included multiple workshops beginning in September and an outreach survey that captured sizable community participation (staff reported more than 30% of the community responded). The proposed mission reads: “Engage students in high-quality education to develop capable, inquisitive, literate citizens.” The proposed vision: “Cultivating a community of excellence through high expectations where every individual belongs, learns, and grows.” Core values proposed were Honesty, Integrity and Responsibility.
Trustees praised the draft and agreed to bring the statements back for a second read and approval in December.
