Community volunteers praise district support for student service clubs

Craig Buxton, who identified himself as president of the Auburn Host Lions Club, thanked the board for backing student clubs and urged clarity in any policy changes so the partnership between schools and community organizations continues. Shirley Paris, Auburn Host Alliance youth coordinator, described service-club expansions across Auburn Elementary, Sky Ridge, Evie Kane and Newcastle and outlined Veterans Day activities and an essay contest that included elementary participants.
Both speakers emphasized the role of certificated advisers and principals in enabling clubs and asked the board to preserve those community-school connections while staff works on clarifying club-policy language.
