Avalon ratifies emergency wastewater repairs; leases screening equipment and awards rehabilitation work

Mr. Greenlaw described the damage and interim steps: "a 12 inch force main that pumps raw sewage into the plant that failed right at the entrance of the plant," and explained staff had located a lease‑to‑own option for a micro‑screen to dewater and allow repairs. Council ratified a three‑month lease with Ovivo not to exceed $55,000 and authorized rehabilitation work with Slater Waterproofing for up to $125,000, with motions approved 3–0 and two members absent. Staff said the actions are intended to streamline repairs and reduce mobilization costs by using a contractor already working on island projects.
