Parks and recreation staff reviewed upcoming community events and seasonal operations: summer brochure distribution next week, program registration opening April 8, recreation programs starting March 18, Arbor Week and an April 7 heritage-tree dedication at McLean House. Staff also reported recruitment for seasonal hires and an Earth Day workday.
Staff said a scholarship-policy revision and a facilities-conditions assessment are in progress; the assessment will inform long-range capital planning and service-level decisions. Megan, a longtime parks staff member, announced she is leaving and thanked the board for their support; board members said they would present a gift and host a small celebration at the next meeting on March 28 and noted the board’s next regular meeting is April 9.
"I am leaving. I want the next person to come in in my footsteps to be able and the staff currently to have a strong list of what is in the process," Megan said, expressing appreciation for the board’s support.
