Pickleball group offers fundraising help and tournament request; water-ski team raises dock and brush concerns

Shannon Knight, speaking during public comment as a representative of the Willamette River Pickleball Club, asked the board about planned court maintenance and offered the club’s assistance to help fund repairs. "I was thinking of putting on a, tournament this year, to help fundraise, but that would mean I would need the courts for, like, 2 full days," she said, asking whether short-term exclusive use for a fundraiser would be potentially acceptable.
Knight said she understood staff might seal cracks this year and repave next year and offered fundraising help to defray costs. She also described a water-ski team that uses the dock at the end of the pathway in Willamette Park and suggested clearing brush, adding picnic tables and creating 'home shows' at the dock to bring more community participation.
Staff thanked Knight for the offers and said staff and the parks board will consider scheduling and maintenance implications when planning court repaving and park improvements.
