Auburn Union adopts districtwide safety plan, adds naloxone, ALICE training, immigration-notification section

The Auburn Union Elementary School District board voted Nov. 13 to adopt a revised districtwide Comprehensive School Safety Plan, with staff amendments to correct the adoption date to 11/13/2025.
Superintendent (staff speaker) summarized the major changes to the plan, including safe ingress/egress language, separation of site- and district-level review responsibilities, and completion of ALICE active-threat training for certificated and classified staff. The plan now documents that “naloxone boxes are mounted next to AEDs” at each campus and clarifies procedures for behavioral-threat assessment teams and referrals. The board approved the plan after staff confirmed a clerical correction to the adoption date.
The safety plan incorporates new environmental-impact guidance (air-quality and heat protocols), which staff said uses color-coded recommendations aligned with cleanair/air.gov guidance. The presentation also noted recently enacted state measures: staff said an “assembly bill 49 and senate bill 98” require an immigration-enforcement-notification section that outlines triggers for notification, limits on disclosure of student records (FERPA protections remain unless there is a court order or warrant), and procedures for limiting public access to portions of campuses when legally directed.
Board members asked staff to adjust phrasing in two places (including a state-adopted wording that appears in a green box in the packet) and confirmed staff would correct the adoption date in the document before final publication. The board approved the plan by voice/roll-call vote.
