TriMet says SMART‑funded Wilsonville service will replace some Line 76 service through West Linn
Summary
TriMet told council the agency plans to subsidize a new SMART line from Wilsonville through West Linn to Clackamas Town Center; staff said that new, funded cross‑jurisdiction service would cover some of the current Line 76 extension, easing the impact of TriMet reductions.

Tom Mills said TriMet is subsidizing a new SMART (Wilsonville) route that will run from Wilsonville to West Linn and on to Clackamas Town Center, using payroll‑tax funds as part of a statewide coordination effort. Mills said that service, which has not launched yet, would replicate parts of the Line 76 extension and reduce the need for TriMet to run low‑productivity segments.
TriMet presented the arrangement as part of a regional strategy to break down barriers between transit districts and to use funds to maintain cross‑boundary trips. Councilors welcomed the coordination but asked how paratransit, schedule timing and public notification would be handled; TriMet said details were still being worked out with SMART and other partners.
